The theme for Bruno is "Curiosity. Bruno is a very curious boy and he is very naive, and has very little understanding of what was going on on the other side of the fence.The book is looked upon from a child's view and everything seems confusing and unfair. "Whats going on ? Why is Maria going through my things ?"(pg.2).Bruno didn't understand anything that was going on. Bruno was very curious.

In Bruno's room there is a window. When you look out of that window you will see a lot of people working in striped pajamas. Bruno always wondered what was over there. Bruno wanted to go explore his homes surroundings, but his parents wouldn't let him." Who are they"said Bruno.(pg.30)Bruno was very curious to see who the people was through that window.

"What kind of Job," asked Bruno.(pg.4) Bruno wanted to know why they had to move. Bruno was curious about the job that the dad had got that they had to just get up and leave family and friends behind.His mother and father really didn't tell him what was going on. They told him that he was a man to watch and that the Fury had big things in mind for him. They also said that it was a very important job.Bruno was curious about the job.

"What are we then,"(pg.182)asked Bruno. Bruno was curious about what kind of people they where.Gretel told him that they were the opposite. Gretel really didn't understand though. Bruno found out that Shmuel was a Jew, because Shmuel told him.

" Did you know that,"(pg.132) asked Bruno. Bruno was telling Shmuel that the were meant to be enemies.Bruno's sister Gretel told him that they don't like Jews.

"Why do you wear pajamas all day"(pg.190)?, asked Bruno. Every-time Bruno saw Shmuel he was always in some pajamas. Shmuel told him that the soldiers took all his clothes away.
